Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Itinerary

  • Day 01 Fly to Lukla 2,800 m (30 mins flights) and trek to Phakding 2,610 m - 3.5 hrs.

    Morning depart from the hotel to Kathmandu domestic airport where short and scenic flight takes you on small aircraft (Dornier / Twin Otter or similar) to Lukla, a nice Sherpa town where most of the adventure around Khumbu and Everest region begins and ends.

    From Lukla after a scenic short flight with views of Everest and chain of peaks, where walk takes you on nice pleasant trail past nice Sherpa villages facing views of Kongde, Kusum-Khanguru then reaching our overnight stops at Phakding village.

    • Day 02 Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

      From Phakding, morning on nice scenic path within pine and rhododendron small forest to cross over long suspension bridge, then at nice Monjo village, after enjoying surrounding scenery walk leads to enter Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepali while Sherpa call as Chomolungma).

      Walk continues following Dudh Kosi River covered within tall rhododendron-pines and fir forest and then over a high bridge towards Namche Bazaar, as trail follows on winding uphill with views of Everest-Lhotse and Kongde peaks, then at famous Namche Bazaar, an ideal place for acclimatization and rest day at 3,440 m high.

      Namche Bazaar, main hub and town or a large village of Khumbu Sherpa, where busy and colorful Saturday market takes place once a week, an interesting place to observe local culture and views.

      • Day 03 Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

        At Namche Bazaar a free and rest day to support acclimatization, where one can take short hike to scenic view points at Everest View Hotel or short walk on top Namche for grand scenery of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam with array of peaks.

        On the top of Namche visit National Park Museum of great interest where you can collect information of Khumbu area along with history, culture of Sherpa people includes information on flora and fauna with mountaineering expeditions.

        • Day 04 Trek to Tengboche 3,874 m - 05 hrs.

          From Namche Bazaar walk leads on main trails to Everest base camp as route head on gradual and scenic path to descend at a small place called Phunge-Tenga close to Imjatse River covered by alpine forest an ideal spot for possible lunch stop.

          After lunch climb starts into cool forest with uphill to reach at scenic Tengboche and the monastery, placed on high ridge surrounded by peaks with Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam in views includes adjoining lesser mountain range.

          At Tengboche enjoy tour of monastery with interesting colorful interior adorned with impressive Buddhist religious painting and tapestry, fresco, with tall statues of Buddha includes other famous saint and Gurus.

          • Day 05 Trek to Dingboche 4,400 m - 05 hrs.

            After Tengboche descend to a river and then cross over a strong steel bridge with slow climb to Pangboche village with close views of majestic Amadablam.

            After a short stop at Pangboche the last permanent village on route Everest base camp, where further area are temporary settlement to cater needs of trekkers, as walk follows short uphill to Somare for lunch stop with close views of Amadablam peak, from here on gradual up to reach a place where Pheriche and Dingboche route splits.

            Walk carries towards east with short down to a river and short climb to reach at Dingboche for overnight stop, located within scenic Imjatse valley.

            Dingboche houses many good lodges for overnight stops facing grand views of mountains range with Island Peak.

            • Day 06 Trek to Lobuche 4,900 m - 05 hrs.

              From Dingboche morning starts on gentle up to reach a high ridge and then on nice gradual path to Thugla, a small place with few houses serving as Tea- House and lodge where great Khumbu glaciers melts into a raging river.

              A good spot for lunch stop, where afternoon leads to a steep climb to a ridge top known as Thugla pass, here observe many tombs, memorials of mountaineers and climbers to Everest or other close peaks, from here rest of the walk is easy on gentle trails to Lobuche for overnight stop, on best lodge available at this high altitude and rough terrains offers good views of Nuptse and Lobuche peaks. 

              • Day 07 Trek to Gorakshep (5180m) and Hiking to Everest base camp (5364m), back to Gorakshep.

                Morning adventure takes you at Mt. Everest base camp, where route leads on a wide valley with short climb above Khumbu glaciers, and then over moraine of rocks and ice to reach at Gorakshep.

                Located on the junction of Everest base camp and Kalapathar Hill route, houses few good lodges, Gorakshep an early Everest base camp from 1950’s to 1970’s and then moved further right beneath Khumbu Ice Fall and glacier.

                From here walk for few hours over moraine and glaciers to reach our final destinations at Everest base camp with close to Nuptse-Lola and Lhotse with massive Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers.

                During mountaineering peak season in April to May base camp will be flooded and busy with expeditions on full swing.

                At base camp after enjoying great moment, head back on same trail to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

                • Day 08 Helicopter flight to Lukla and Catch a plane back to Kathmandu

                  Enjoy some majestic views in the morning as our helicopter arrives to land at Gorakshep. Then board in spacious seating arrangement for super scenic helicopter flight back to Lukla. 

                  Once we reach Lukla, we will catch a plane back to Kathmandu and bid farewell to the beautiful Khumbu region with lots of amazing memories.
