Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek Itinerary

  • Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

    On arrival received by our staff and guide with transfer to your respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu, after checking into your lovely rooms getting refreshed from jet-leg join in with other members of Gokyo Valley and Renjo-La Pass Trekking. 

    Our guide / leader will provide information about hotels, trekking and local lodge with camping facilities, includes detail of view on route, history and culture with few important do’s and don’ts.

    Evening includes a nice dinner in a pleasant Nepalese restaurant with local cultural programs of all parts of the country to enlighten the environment along with your dinner.

    • Day 02 Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour and Preparation for Trek

      Various UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES of Kathmandu like Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath will be visited on this city tour day. Witness living goddess Kumari to Buddhists’ sacred pilgrim places and behold holy Hindu shrine.

      Leisure afternoon free for individual activities and ready for next morning flight to Nepal North Mid-East region at Lukla and high Khumbu valley at Gokyo.

      • Day 03 Fly to Lukla (2820m) and Trek to Phakding (2,657 m) - 04 hrs

        Morning depart from hotel to Kathmandu domestic airport where short and scenic flight takes you on small aircraft (Dornier / Twin Otter or similar) to Lukla, a nice Sherpa town where most of the adventure around Khumbu and Everest region begins and ends.

        From Lukla after a scenic short flight with views of Everest and chain of peaks, where walk takes you on nice pleasant trail past nice Sherpa villages facing views of Kongde, Kusum-Khanguru then reaching our overnight stops at Phakding village.

        • Day 04 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) - 06 hrs

          From Phakding, morning on nice scenic path within pine and rhododendron small forest to cross over long suspension bridge, then at nice Monjo village, after enjoying surrounding scenery walk leads to enter Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepali while Sherpa call as Chomolungma).

          Walk continues following Dudh Kosi River covered within tall rhododendron-pines and fir forest and then over a high bridge towards Namche Bazaar, as trail follows on winding uphill with views of Everest-Lhotse and Kongde peaks, then at famous Namche Bazaar, an ideal place for acclimatization and rest day at 3,440 m high.

          Namche Bazaar, main hub and town or a large village of Khumbu Sherpa, where busy and colorful Saturday market takes place once a week, an interesting place to observe local culture and views.

          • Day 05 Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion

            At Namche Bazaar a free and rest day to support acclimatization, where one can take short hike to scenic view points at Everest View Hotel or short walk on top Namche for grand scenery of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam with array of peaks.

            On the top of Namche visit National Park Museum of great interest where you can collect information of Khumbu area along with history, culture of Sherpa people includes information on flora and fauna with mountaineering expeditions.

            • Day 06 Trek to Dole (4,100 m) - 06 hrs

              Morning after a pleasant rest days at Namche as walk leads to short climb and then on scenic wide trail for an hour or more with views of Everest, Lhotse and Amadablam with array of peaks where climb leads to Mong Hill on leaving the main path.

              From the top of Mong Hill enjoy grand views of peaks and head downhill to Phortse Tenga a small settlement near Dudh Kosi River, where walk leads withclimb into serene alpine woodland to reach at Dole for overnight stop.

              Dole is a place with number of good lodges hidden in a high river gorge within green tree lines of rhododendron, pines and fir.

              • Day 07 Trek to Machhermo (4,470 m) - 04 hrs

                From this nice spot a short morning climb to reach high above Dole and then on gradual trail for an hour to reach a small place at Lhabarma Kharka and Luza; as walk skirts around top of a ridge looking down at Machherma located on a small valley.

                At the top enjoy views of Cho-Oyu range of peaks, and then descend to Machherma for overnight stop, with afternoon at leisure for short acclimatization walks around.

                • Day 08 Trek to Gokyo Lake (4,800 m) - 04 hrs

                  A short morning walk to reach at Gokyo valley and its simmering lakes, as route follows on scenic path to Pangka, with climb on a rocky path within glacial ablation valley.

                  Walk then come across first lake and then past second lake to reach the main third lake of Gokyo, also known as Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake.

                  A marvelous and beautiful place situated at above 4,800 meters high, at Gokyo for lunch where afternoon free for short walk around the lake with views of Mt. Cho Oyo world’s 06th highest and Gyachung Kang that reflects on emerald Gokyo Lake.

                  • Day 09 Early morning hike to Gokyo Ri (53605 m)

                    A rest day at Gokyo valley within its magnificent glacial lakes, morning climb to high Gokyo Ri at above 5,357 m, offers stunning panorama of world 4 highest peaks with Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Mt. Makalu with array of smaller range of mountains.

                    Enjoying grand super mountain panorama overlooking massive Ngozumba Glacier and of Gokyo below, and then descend back to Gokyo for breakfast and lunch, afternoon free at leisure preparation for next early morning adventure to cross over Renjo-la pass. 

                    • Day 10 Cross Renjo - La (5,360 m) and descend to Lungden (4,380 m ) - 07 hrs

                      Starting early morning as route leads to the south of Gokyo Lake, where climb begins heading over rocks and stone scree trail to reach on top of high Renjo-la at 5,360, the highest spot of the adventure.

                      From the pass catch spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu with Makalu includes series of peaks, and then on long downhill walk past icy small ponds to reach Lungden, located close to high Nangpa-la pass that leads to Tibet, at Lungden enjoy rest of the afternoon with views of Kongde peaks.

                      • Day 11 Trek to Thame village (3,880 m) via Marlung - 06 hrs

                        From Lungden after completing our major adventure over Renjo-la pass, morning an easy descend to reach down at Bhote-Kosi River near a farm village at Marlung, after possible lunch stop afternoon on gentle path to reach at Thame village for overnight stop.

                        At Thame short hike and visit one of the oldest monastery of Khumbu area, an interesting place treasures ancient artifacts, idols and holy Buddhist books with views of Kongde and Pachermo peaks.

                        • Day 12 Trek to Namche Bazaar via Thamo - 05 hrs

                          After a wonderful stop at Thame, morning leads to moderate walk with short descend to a river and with climb for half hour to reach up to follow a gentle path towards Thamo village, from here back in green forested areas as walk continues to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

                          • Day 13 Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs

                            Morning and last walk of the adventure leads to long day trekking with much downhill to Dudh Kosi River valley and then at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, from here another takes you at Phakding village.

                            After Phakding few hours walks on good trail then with last final climb of less than an hour to Lukla for last overnight stop around high Khumbu and Everest region.

                            • Day 14 Fly back to Kathmandu

                              Morning with time for your short flight to Kathmandu transfer to Lukla airport also called ‘Tenzing and Hillary airport’, where sweeping scenic flight of 30 minutes brings you back at Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotel.

                              • Day 15 Depart Kathmandu for international departure

                                Last day in the country of high Himalaya after enjoying grand glorious adventure and experience on Gokyo Valley and Renjo-la pass trekking, where our staff and guide transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your flight home or to next port of call and respective destinations.
