Visa Information

A visa is required to enter Nepal unless you are an Indian National. Nepalese visas can be obtained from the Nepalese Consulate in your country or on your arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Moreover visa can also be obtained at border entry points of Nepal. A valid passport and two passport size photos are needed to get a visa.

Tourist Entry Visa:

The details of tourist entry visa is as below:-

Multiple Entry 15 Days US$ 25 or equivalent convertible currency 
Multiple Entry 30 Days US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency 
Multiple Entry 90 Days US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency 

Gratis/Free Visa:

  • For first visit in one visa year (January to December), gratis visa for 30 days is available only for nationals of South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
  • Indian nationals do not require visa to enter into Nepal.
  • Chinese tourist are provided gratis visa for Nepal.

Tourist Visa Extension:

Tourist visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January -December).

  • Visa extension fee for a period of 15 days or less – US$ 30
  • Visa extension fee for a period of more than 15 days – US$ 2 per day

Transit Visa:

Transit visa for one day can be obtained from Nepal’s immigration offices at the entry points by showing evidence of departure (flight ticket) via Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, by paying US$ 5 or equivalent convertible currency.

Other information:

Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria will need to obtain visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they do not get visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal.
