    You will start the first day of your incredible Himalayan trekking adventure with a scenic flying experience from Kathmandu to Lukla. This cross-valley flight over the high hills and forests will also provide you with the opportunity to enjoy the mesmerizing aerial views of the mountain range in the Himalayas.

    After landing at Lukla, you will meet the remaining members of the crew and prepare for the trek to Phakding. Making descend from Lukla, you will head down to the riverbase of the Dudh Koshi River. From here, you will trek through the Chaurikharka Village and follow the gradual trail stretching through Dudh Koshi Ghat to Phakding.

    After breakfast, you will prepare for the scenic trekking route up ahead in your Phakding to Namche trail. You will take the path to the north bank of the Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges in the region, including the popular Hillary Suspension Bridge, the highest suspension bridge in the Everest region.

    You will then make your way toward the Jorsale Village, south of the Namche Bazaar, and Monjo, the checkpoint of the Sagarmatha National Park. Then, following the gradually ascending trail across the lush forested trails, you will reach the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. You will be able to catch the first incredible views of Everest as you move along this trekking route to Namche.

  • Day 3 Acclimatization Day at Namche

    At Namche, you have reached an altitude of 3,440 meters, so it is necessary for you to adapt to the new altitude, moving to further altitudes in your journey. Namche Bazaar is the perfect acclimatization destination; there are several incredible hiking options near this vibrant town, like Everest View Hotel, Khumjung and Khunde Villages, Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center and Syangboche Airstrip.

    After a morning hike, you can take it easy for the rest of the day; there is a lot to see and explore in this charming, high-altitude town. If it's Saturday, you will also be able to witness the incredible weekly market of the region known as ‘Haat Bazaar’.

    It's time to move along with your exploration of the Gokyo trekking route. Today, after breakfast, you will head toward Dole, where the path separates between the classical Everest Base Camp Trekking route and Gokyo Lake. In your regular trekking route, you head toward Tengboche instead of Dole.

    The path generally from Namche to Dole is rocky-rugged and has several steep sections. After trekking for about three hours, you will then arrive at the Mong La Pass [3,957 meters/ 12,982 feet]. From this pass, you will be able to catch the stunning views of Khumbila, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding peaks. Continuing with your scenic trail, you will traverse across the charming pine and rhododendron forests as you trek past the Photse Tenga Villag at the riverside to reach Dole. This will be your resting destination tonight.

    Then, from here, your trekking trail rises above the soaring Dudh Koshi River, and you trek on the hillside across charming settlements like Lapahrma and Luja Villages before reaching Machhermo.

    On this day’s exciting trekking adventure, you will trek toward the first main objective of this incredible Himalayan adventure. Trekking on the ascending route to a ridge, you will trek past the ridge to enter the valley, enjoying the spectacular views of Cho Oyu, Thamserku, and Kantega.

    After crossing Pangka, you will then head toward Nzogumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in the entire country. This pristine glacier originates in Tibet on the foothills of the Cho Oyu and moves all the way down to the Gokyo Valley. You will first reach the Longpongo, the first of the Gokyo Lakes, and head toward the second lake Taboche Tsho. Then, a short hike from here will take you to the Gokyo Tsho; the Gokyo Village is situated at the banks of this third pristine lake and is one of the highest settlements in Nepal.

    Today, you will hike to the highest elevation point of the Gokyo Valley, Gokyo-Ri, for an incredible sunrise view. Although this early morning hike can be slightly physically demanding, from the top, you will be able to witness the magnificent beauty of the four of the 8,000-meter class mountains, like Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu, including several other 6,000-7,000 meter class peaks.

    After enjoying the epic views from this vantage point, you will make your descent to the Dragnak. The distance between Gokyo Ri and Dragnak is about 7-8 km, and you will take across the moraines of the Ngozumpa Glacier to reach the high-altitude village.

    Then, from here, you will head toward the base of the highest mountain in the world. You will ascend over the Kalapatthar before dawn; from here, you can enjoy the 360° panoramic views of Everest. Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Changtse and Khumbu Valley.

    After soaking in the beauty of the incredible Himalayan peaks, you will then make your descent to Gorakshep for breakfast. You will rest here for a bit and move along with the second part of this day’s adventure and descend down to Pheriche, trekking past the Thukla Pass (memorial ground for mountaineers who died during the Everest expedition) and Thukla Village.

Do you need a guide for this trek?

As of 1st April 2023, you will need to hire a government-licensed trekking guide for any kind of high-altitude trekking adventure in Nepal.

What is the weight limit for the flight to Lukla?

The weight limit for a flight from Kathmandu to Luka is 15 kg (33 pounds); you will have to pay an extra charge of US$ 1 per extra kg of baggage.

What size of daypack should I bring?

You are recommended to bring a daypack with a capacity of 30- 40 liters. Make sure the bag is equipped with hip belts and wide straps to distribute the weight evenly.

Can I take a shower during the trek?

Yes, there are hot showers available enroute to Namche Bazaar from Lukla. Some of the teahouses at high altitudes also do have showers, but mostly, you will have to buy a bucket of hot water for bathing.

Are there any age requirements for this trek?

No, there aren’t any specific age requirements for this trek. However, only trekkers with a minimum age of 10 and up to 70 years old are recommended for this trek.

Can I use credit cards during the trek?

You are recommended to change the required amount to local currency before trek. There are no credit card facilities available along your trekking route. Although there are ATMs at Namche and Lukla, they are sometimes unreliable.
